It's the question we're asked most about the coast, usually in these words: "Does your property actually face the ocean? Not just an ocean view?" Fair question, because the terms get stretched. Oceanfront means the home faces the water directly with nothing between you and the beach — you open the door and you're on the sand or the Prom. Ocean view means the water is visible, but there may be a road, a dune or another building in between, or the view may be at an angle from certain rooms. Our Ocean Front collection is the stricter list. If the distinction matters to you — and for most guests it does — message us and we'll tell you exactly what you'll see, and from which window.

This varies a lot along the Oregon Coast, so it's worth asking about the specific home. Some of ours open straight onto the Prom in Seaside--Sand & Sea Condos or The Promenade. Others sit above the beach with a path down that includes stairs, and a few of those paths get slippery after rain. Tell us who's making the walk — a toddler, a grandparent, a dog with short legs, someone carrying a cooler — and we'll tell you honestly whether that home works for you.

At many of our oceanfront homes, yes, and for most guests that's the whole point.

Most Oregon beaches welcome leashed dogs, which is one of the great things about a coast trip here — miles of open sand and nobody minding. Many of our coastal homes are dog-friendly, though we're dog-friendly, not pet-friendly: no cats at any of our properties. A fee applies per dog per stay and most homes cap at two.

Most don't, and on the Oregon Coast that's rarely a problem — the ocean breeze does the work, and even August evenings cool off fast. Our Seaside condos have floor-to-ceiling windows built for exactly that. The front desk at the Sand & Sea Condos can make fans available upon request. Every listing states its cooling setup, so you're never guessing.

Honestly? The Oregon Coast is beautiful in every season and sunny in none of them reliably. Summer brings the warmest days and the biggest crowds. Spring and autumn are our favorites — storm-watching from a window with the fire on is a genuine reason to visit, not a consolation. Winter is quiet, dramatic and the best value of the year. Pack layers whenever you come, and bring a rain shell you don't mind getting used.

It depends on the home and it's worth checking before you drive out. Our Seaside condos have designated guest parking on site, usually limited to one or two vehicles. Standalone beach houses generally have a driveway. If you're bringing a second car, a boat, a trailer or an RV, ask first — several properties genuinely can't take them, and finding that out on arrival is a bad start to a holiday.

Cancellation is strict, and the window varies by home — free cancellation runs from 1 to 14 days before check-in depending on the property. After that the booking is non-refundable. The exact window is on each listing, so check it before you book. For a coast trip you might need to move, we'd genuinely recommend travel insurance.
